Bimini Top Measuring Guide

1: Length

In order to get the correct size bimini top for your boat you need to decided how much of your boat you wish to cover that is suits the type of boat that you have. The most common and popular Bimini Top length is the 6’ / 1.82 metres, which suits most popular boats. The 8’ / 2.13m Bimini Tops are are very large and are usually used on pontoon boats. 2 bow tops are usually for small fishing boats and 5’ /1.52m tops are used for most ski boats.

Width

Next, you need to think about where you would like the top mounted onto your boat. Our tops will allow mounting on almost any surface, such as the wing of the wingshield, or even on a rail. Every piece of mounting required to affix the Bimini Top is included with the order. To determine the correct mounting width, find the mounting point on one side of the boat. Measure the width between that point and the corresponding point on the opposite side of the boat.

This is usually different from your boats actual width

Height

In order to determine the correct height of your Bimini Top you need to stand inside your boat and measure the from the mounting point up to find the height of the top that suits you. This height can be added to the depth of your boat to determine the amount of clearance you will have. Remember that the taller Bimini Top you choose the less shade you will have. Most runabouts work well with 36” to 46” / 0.91 to 1.16cm tops. Centre Console boats usually require a 54” / 1.37m height top. Pontoons typically require the 48” / 1.21m tops. These are only some ideas on the sizing that might fit well with your boat, but you need to determine the height that is best for your boating needs.

Note: The height of the Bimini top is determined from the mounting point upwards, not from the floor of your boat.
